Filmmaker Suneel Darshan’s 2005 romance drama ‘Barsaat’ starring Bobby Deol, Bipasha Basu, and Priyanka Chopra was a hit at the box office. But did you know Akshay Kumar was the first choice for the film, in fact, he filmed some portions of it? Yes, you read it right! Reportedly, Khiladi Kumar left the project midway because his wife Twinkle Khanna asked him to not work with Priyanka Chopra. Back then, Akshay and Priyanka were rumoured to be dating each other.
As per several media reports, the Atrangi Re star filmed the title track of Barsaat with PeeCee, however, he walked out of the film. Akshay backing out from the project raised many eyeballs then. Later, Bobby Deol was roped in to play the main male lead. It is being said that Kumar’s exit from the film was because of his link-up rumours with Priyanka. Even his wife Twinkle was disturbed and upset and therefore she asked the actor to not work with Chopra.

Talking about Akshay walking out of the film, Suneel Darshan in an interview stated that the actor was in a ‘personal dilemma.’ The director also revealed that the film kept getting delayed as Akshay had to sort out his family problems. “Akshay Kumar went through a personal dilemma. We started shooting with Akshay and Priyanka. We shot a song with them. After that, the film kept getting delayed as Akshay had to sort out his (family) problems. It was a grave domestic issue for Akshay. Otherwise, he’d have never walked out of the film. He couldn’t have let me down after the way I’ve stood by him over the years,” Suneel was quoted saying.
Interestingly, Akshay and Priyanka never worked together again after this project. The song that they shot for ‘Barsaat’ was their last collaboration.
